What to Know Before You Apply to the Guyana Development Bank

What is confirmed about the October 5 launch, GYD $3 million loans, the mobile app and bank desks — and which application details are still pending.

What should applicants know right now?

The Guyana Development Bank is scheduled to commence operations on October 5, 2026, with loans of up to GYD $3 million at zero interest and without collateral for eligible applicants. A mobile app and community desks in commercial-bank branches have been announced, but the app link and detailed submission process have not yet been published.

The Commencement Order is an important legal step. It does not mean every application channel, branch location, or final rule is already available to the public.

What is confirmed?

  • Commencement date: October 5, 2026
  • Initial capital: US$100 million, reported as GYD $20 billion
  • Direct financing: Up to GYD $3 million at zero interest and without collateral for eligible applicants
  • Additional financing: Up to GYD $7 million may be available through commercial-bank co-financing at favourable rates, subject to the commercial lender’s terms
  • Access: An official mobile app and community desks in commercial-bank branches have been announced
  • Support: Mentorship and training are part of the announced model
  • Priority groups: Women, youth, persons with disabilities, and hinterland and Amerindian communities have been specifically highlighted

What is still pending?

The public is still waiting for the official app link, final application form, complete eligibility rules, repayment periods, participating branches, desk hours, and exact document checklist. Diaspora-specific procedures and guidance for applicants with special NIS circumstances also remain unpublished.

Treat October 5 as the date to be prepared, not as permission to use any unofficial form or pay anyone promising access.

What can you do before the application process is published?

Gather your identification, registration, GRA/TIN, NIS, proof-of-address, and business records. At the same time, prepare the plan that explains what your business does, how much you need, what the money will buy, and how the business can repay it.

See the full document guide, take the free personal checklist, or review the application app and bank-desk update.
