What should business owners do now?

You do not need to wait until opening day to get organized. You can start with four practical steps:

  1. Gather your personal and business documents. Start with identification, your TIN certificate, proof of address, business registration if applicable, and records showing your sales or income.
  2. Organize your numbers. Write down what your business earns, what it spends, and any equipment, stock, or services you would buy with the loan.
  3. Be clear about the funding. Know how much you need, what each major purchase may cost, and how it can help your business earn or save money.
  4. Prepare a bank-ready business plan. Your plan should explain what you sell, who buys from you, how the money will be used, and how the business expects to repay financing.
